My Profile:
Welcome to my Masters
of Arts in Teaching Portfolio blog. I am
pleased to introduce myself, I am Robin Crim, wife, mother, and teacher. I began the MAT program at Texas Woman’s
University two and a half years ago in an effort to become a General Education,
Early Childhood through sixth grade, Certified Teacher. It has been my goal to eventually be hired on
in Lewisville Independent School District as this is the district that brought
us to the area to raise our children in.
My background in
education is a non-traditional one. I
knew that I wanted to be an educator but I was not sure about allowing the
walls of a classroom prevent me from reaching students. I received degrees in Museum Studies and
History from Baylor University and was introduced to the world of hands on
education. I believe that by being
allowed to touch history and science in such a hands-on way has made it
possible to impact students in ways that text books and photographs never could. With the progress of technology, the world
has opened up to today’s students and I no longer believe that any classroom,
rather it be in an auditorium or a rural, one room building, has to be limited
to four walls.
It is my objective to
help students to develop cognitively, physically, emotionally and socially. It
is my goal to provide authentic learning activities that not only interest
students but also guide them to becoming intelligent, problem solvers who are
prepared for society’s challenges. I believe I can help prepare students to
reach their highest potential.
